Blog O' Rama: My attempt at a trackback

Blog O' Rama talks about his attempts to trackback to Scott's blog. One observation, even if you track back, you still probably want to put a direct link to the blog in your post. Trackbacks don't let your readers link to the other blog. They let readers of that other blog link back to you from that blog's comments section.

Bog O' Rama's comments as to the need for people to turn on trackbacks for any of this to work is obviously correct. Tranquilidad gives some nice links to the typepad system about how to enable trackbacks on your site and then how to make a trackback to someone else's post. In the clinic, I showed a way to do this using the bookmarklet. I will show that again if there is enough demand.

Weblogging as social networking

Brian Burnham: Building Typelists in Movable Type p2 is an interesting but highly technical article regarding weblog development. I'd like to keep my observations at a more general level in reviewing it.

The article is about creating modifications to weblog software so that you can use it to network with your friends. To me, that's the most interesting part of weblogging. Independent people can use it to create a network with their friends and collaborators. Think of it as sort of virtual organization being implemented without a pre-existing organization
